Graduating K01
This page provide information for students enrolled in course K01 (from a.y. 2011/12 to a.y. 2021/22).
Students can choose one of the following types of theses:
- Long thesis: about 30-50 pages long, it is worth up to 6 points and entails about six months of work
- Short thesis: about 10-15 pages long, it is worth up to 2 points and entails about three months of work
For a list of the permitted types of theses, please select the button on the right.
Starting from the April 2023 session, the supervisor will only be assigned by a designated Committee.
Students must send the supervisor request form to the following address: elaboratifinali.med@unimi.it
The form must be submitted by the deadlines indicated in the file (button on the right), which vary according to the session and the type of thesis chosen.
Students must indicate their preferences for the type of thesis, topic and supervisor in the appropriate sections of the form.
Once they receive an email reply, students must contact the supervisor assigned by the Committee.
Each student is required to complete the course 'Verso l'elaborato finale' ('Preparing your Thesis') for students in the Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication Bachelor's degree programme – MED, available on Moodle. The course covers key topics related to the preparation of the thesis, such as bibliographic research, drafting, and editorial guidelines. The course may also be accessed through the Ariel portal.
At the end of the course, students will be provided with a certificate to be handed in to their supervisor.
Students must include a signed statement of originality in the final draft of their thesis. In this statement students confirm their commitment to intellectual honesty in drafting the thesis and acknowledge their awareness of the consequences of plagiarism or improper use of sources. Students are therefore urged to read this statement as soon as possible, as its contents pertain to the entire process of drafting the thesis. In the most serious cases, plagiarism may preclude graduation. If a student is caught plagiarising and is subsequently rejected by their supervisor, they will have to request a new one by submitting the appropriate form to the Thesis Board. Inclusion of the dated, signed statement in the final draft of the work is mandatory. For questions or further information, students should contact their supervisor.
To be admitted to the final exam, students must do the following:
- upload a digital copy of the thesis in PDF/A format by accessing - from UNIMIA -> SIFA Online Services -> Administrative services -> graduation application -> Thesis upload. You cannot apply for graduation without uploading the thesis within the deadline.
- Create a PDF/A file of your thesis starting from a Word or LibreOffice document (follow instructions on the video tutorial).
- Deliver one paper copy of your thesis following the instruction of your course programme (only Master and four-year degree programmes).
